Great Moments in Campaign Finance Disclosure

Pretty sure there’s a larger story behind this note from the Denham Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee for a Republican lawmaker from California:

On 1/30/12 a fraudulent check was charged against our checking 

account in the amount of $4,957.19. We notified our bank, which

conducted an investigation, and were reimbursed by the bank on 2/16/12

Especially since there’s an expenditure in the April Quarterly report labeled “Funds Stolen” and listing the payee as “Sam Chouche” of Anaheim Hills, who may or may not be the person quoted in an Orange County Register story about improperly prepared halal meat last November. The FEC asked about the “funds stolen” transaction on June 6.
